We have received a ton of feedback from you all and we have a whole bunch of improvements to The Naked Frame as a result. Here’s a quick rundown of what we have been upto.

Mounted Prints
This was the number one request from most of you. Our original plan was to offer just the prints so that you could frame them any way you want, but it turns out that most of you want prints that are ready to be put up without any more effort. We have been experimenting with various printing and mounting ideas and have come up with two really great options that we’re sure you’ll love. The first is a Giclée canvas wrap that looks just like an expensive painting, and the second is a print made on aluminum metal. Both these options come with all the hardware you need to hang them.
Of course, you can still buy the bare (naked) print it you want to do all the mounting yourself.
Better payment options
For those of you who don’t want to use Paypal (or Google Checkout), we now accept most major credit cards. Now you have no excuse not to buy that print you’ve been eying for a while.
Visualizations
For those of you who need to see what great art looks like when put up, we have put up quite a few visualization pictures to show you how our pictures look on some walls.

And finally, for those of you who need that final push to make that choice about whether or not to buy art, we have some more pictures and videos to show you what exactly you’ll be getting. You can see a video of how our prints are packaged for you, along with more information on our mounting options. We also have a nice FAQ page for you so that you can get all those pressing questions answered. (At least the ones that relate to our website)

We’ve been hard at work to make all this happen. We also have a few subtle changes to the look and feel of the website, along with links to our twitter page and a signup form for out newsletter on the front page. Here’s the best part – we are not going to charge you for shipping all the way till the end of this month. Not one dime. Now go ahead and bring more art into your life!

Charlie Berkinshaw is The Naked Frame’s Featured Artist for February 2010. Charlie has an amazing eye for patterns and colors. We at The Naked Frame are very proud of Charlie and his art and are thrilled to share them with you. We do sincerely hope you will enjoy his photos as much as we did.

Introducing Volkan Aykac

The Naked Frame launched on Feb 1 and since then we have had a steady stream of suggestions and encouragement from all over. Now that we are done with the nitty-gritty of the actual launch, we can now focus on our assets – the artists who have joined us and contributed their works to be part of the curated collections. We will periodically feature our artists on this blog and introduce their art to you.

This week’s spotlight is on Dr. Volkan Aykac. Volkan has a unique perspective of the world around him as he captures the energy and colors of the mundane and presents them to us in a new light. He is the official photographer for the Misket Modern Ballet Company and has been capturing moments in stage and urban photography around the world for years. We are offering prints on photographic paper at 8×12 and 16×24 inches from $35.00

The Naked Survey and donations to Haiti

Before we launched The Naked Frame, we wanted to test out our assumptions about the needs of art patrons and photographers. We sent out a survey to our friends and promised that for every response, we would donate $1 to Doctors Without Borders. We received 71 responses to the survey and in the spirit of things, we are rounding it up to $100 and making the donation today in addition to the amounts we donated personally.

We want to thank everyone who completed the survey (and in some cases, painfully so since the survey was quite long for those who identified themselves as both art patrons and photographers) since it helped us to get an insight into how people regard photographic art, and what photographers themselves want in a art marketplace. Our alpha launch was an attempt to throw ourselves headlong into the world of photographic art retail, but we will be building the beta version very carefully while keeping the needs of buyers and sellers in mind. Our goal is to not merely create yet another website where you can find art, but to create one that you will love and recommend to others. So keep an eye out for updates from us, and in the meantime, you can go through the art pieces that we have carefully selected and presented on the website, and maybe a few of these will grace your walls!

It is my pleasure to announce that the alpha release of The Naked Frame (www.thenakedframe.com) is officially open for business! While we are very excited about what we have been able to do over the past month, this is just the beginning!

As we continue to fine tune the website design, the business logic, and feature set through the alpha and beta releases, we hope to be able to provide you with even a better experience in finding and purchasing unique museum quality photographic art prints.

Please come in, look around and enjoy the beautiful photos at the Naked Frame. I certainly hope that your visit today is the beginning of a great relationship!

We are building The Naked Frame with the goal of creating a new online marketplace for high end photographic art. To move forward with this new venture, it is absolutely critical for us to have a better understanding of exactly how our customers (both photographers and art buyers) feel and think.

To that end, we are conducting a short survey (20 to 30 questions depending on whether you are a photographer, a buyer, or both). The results of this survey will be critical in helping us better define and target our business model and feature sets.

As a show of appreciation, for each survey submission we receive, we will make a one dollar donation (up to $300) to Doctors without Borders to help the Haitian earthquake victims.
